Grammar and vocabulary focus Teacher notes
Choose one or two targets if useful. The task is successful when the learner explains the problem and agrees on a workable plan. Other clear, natural wording is welcome.
Grammar you can point to
- Polite requests: could + subject + verb
Could you send a red coat, please?
Ask for a replacement.- Past simple: ordered and received
We ordered a red coat, but we received a blue one.
Explain what went wrong.- Questions with can
When can you deliver it?
Check what is possible and when.
Possible review: adjective + noun groups (an old black suitcase), singular and plural nouns (one chair / two chairs), and time expressions (at four / by five / today).
Vocabulary you can choose
- Useful task words
- order, delivery, wrong, matching, replacement, deliver
- Describe the items
- red, blue, white, black; old, modern; small, large; round, square
- Name the objects
- coat, suitcase, lamp, chair; cup, table, umbrella in the extra task
- Explain only if needed
- props, hire, supplier
Teach only the words the learner needs. You do not need to teach every grammar point or every word.
For you
What to do
Ask the learner to open “Finish” on their page.
Ask for a short message to the crew: what will arrive, and when? Use the new poster problem for one final request.
Ask the two reflection questions after the poster request. Then tell the learner that the lesson is finished.
The poster task needs a request, not another stock negotiation.
Give homework · optional
Ask the learner to open Optional homework on their final page. You can also copy the task below into your class chat.
At the next class, listen to the message and help the learner improve one sentence.
Have 10 more minutes?
Use another delivery with the same language.
Teach the extra task →06 / Finish
Tell the crew the plan.
Say what will arrive and when. Then try one new request.
Two posters.
The wrong size.
Your group ordered two large posters. It received two small posters. Explain the problem and ask for replacements. Ask when they can arrive.
What phrase helped you?
What can you say more clearly now?
Optional homework · three sentences
Imagine a different delivery problem. Write three sentences: explain what was wrong, ask for a replacement, and ask when it can arrive.
For example: you ordered a small desk, but a large desk arrived.
Bring your message to the next class. Read it aloud and make one part clearer with your teacher.
If you share your screen instead
Open the learner page in its own tab and share only that tab. Keep this teacher view private. You control the learner page and can type the agreement there while the learner speaks. Use one copy of the notes.
