Classroom seating chart maker
Add your class, arrange the seats, and download a plan for your classroom.
1. Set up your class
One student per line. Use initials or another label for students with the same name.
Open a class list or backup
A class list loads names only. A seating backup restores the full room, names, locks, and rules. Group Maker and Name Picker backups load names only.
Download sample class list (.csv) One name column. Use it in Seating Chart, Name Picker, or Group Maker. Seating Chart supports up to 60 students.
Keep students apart
In custom rooms, these students cannot sit in directly neighboring grid squares; diagonal seats are allowed. In preset groups, they sit at different tables. In other layouts, they cannot sit directly beside, in front of, or behind each other. Diagonal seats and seats across an aisle are allowed.
Your seating chart starts with your class
Paste student names in the name box, one per line, then choose Use these names. Or try a sample class.
Next, choose a room arrangement and move desks to match your classroom.
Start with your names or try the sample class.
2. Arrange your room
Choose a starting arrangement, then move individual desks to fit your room.
Your seating chart
Select a seat, then another to swap students. You can also drag a name to a seat.
Drag a desk, or select it and use the arrow buttons. Its student moves with it. Scroll using the space between desks.
Swipe the chart sideways to see the other seats.
Make it fit your room
Lock a student’s seat before shuffling to keep that placement. Leave extra seats for an uneven class. Moving a desk keeps its student and lock. Applying a preset replaces your custom room and resets locks. Your student list and keep-apart rules stay available.
Use the same class list with the Seating Chart Maker, Name Picker, or Group Maker.
