Vocabulary crossword maker
Make a crossword from words your class has learned. Add clues, check the grid, and download a student sheet and answer key.
1. Choose words and clues
One per line: word, clue. You can also paste two spreadsheet columns.
List format and CSV help
A word alone also works; add its clue in the list. If the word has a comma, put the whole word in quotes: "yes, please", A polite reply. Commas in clues are fine. You can still use word | clue. Paste two spreadsheet columns or a CSV with a word,clue header. CSV files from Vocabulary Bingo and Vocabulary Flashcards work here. Import adds words. A matching word with a different clue stops the import.

Use it for review
Give the crossword after students have met the words. Learners can work alone or compare answers in pairs. The word bank offers more help; clues only ask learners to recall the words.
The grid, PDF, and DOCX are made in this browser. Your words are not sent to ECQ. Use the CSV to keep a word list that you can change in this tool.
