Word scramble maker

Turn words from a lesson into a spelling worksheet. Add clues if you want, then download the student pages and answer key.

1. Choose your words

One per line: word, clue. A word alone also works.

CSV and paste help

Paste two spreadsheet columns, or use word, clue on each line. Commas in clues are fine. Put quotes around a word that contains a comma.

CSV files use a word, clue header. The same CSV works in ECQ’s bingo, flashcard, crossword, and word search tools. Import adds to your list. It does not replace it.

Your list

No words yet.

Your list stays on this open page. Download the CSV to keep it.

More options

Spaces, accents, and punctuation stay in place. Letters move within each word. The worksheet uses lower-case letters.

Choose a sample or add your words. Select up to 40 words.

Use words students know

Use this worksheet for a short spelling review. Clues ask students to recall each word’s meaning. After they finish, ask them to use a few answers in a sentence.

Check the scrambled words before you print. Some letter sets can make more than one answer. Your list and files are made in this browser. Your words are not sent to ECQ.
