Classroom noise meter
Set a comfortable sound level for your activity. Give the class a visible reminder when it gets too loud.
What’s happening?
For reading, writing, or individual work.
Lower means quieter. Adjust for your room and microphone.
Listen for 5 seconds while the class works at the volume you want.
After a 3-second countdown, compare 5-second rounds for fun. Keep the microphone, audience, and settings the same. This measures sound, not votes.
Microphone and alerts
Increase sensitivity if the meter barely moves. Lower it if ordinary sounds fill the meter.
Amber means near the limit; red means above it. The delay controls the sound alert. After one second clearly below the limit, a new rise can sound again. Sound alerts pause for 1.8 seconds after a chime to avoid retriggering.

Countdowns and microphone messages still appear when text is hidden.
Quiet work
Ready when you are
Choose an activity, then start the microphone.
Audio stays in this page. Nothing is recorded, saved, or uploaded. Stop the microphone when you finish.
How to set a useful limit
Start the microphone and place your device where it will stay. Have the class work at a comfortable level, then select “Set from room sound”. You can move the limit slider at any time.
Quiet work still includes small sounds. Microphones and rooms vary, so these levels are relative, not decibels. The meter cannot identify who is talking.
The microphone stops when you leave this tab. Come back and start it again when you’re ready.
